KÄRCHER Team Goes Fourth

The Knockhill Touring Car race meeting was one of the hardest fought the team has been involved in. Legends Cars racing is always hard fought but this meeting in particular was a bruising, physical encounter.

The 31 car entry included the cream of both the National and Scottish Championships along with two special guest drivers - three times British Superbike Champion Niall Mackenzie and Polish drifting hero Majiec Polody.

Given the size and quality of the entry the team were well pleased with the weekend's results. In Saturday's races Simon took three seventh place finishes in the races and that meant he was an excellent fourth place overall. "We all knew there would be issues with the Scottish drivers wanting to prove something." said Simon after the racing. "Consistency was always going to be the key to a good score and fourth overall with 31 drivers out there was a decent result."

Stephen's first day was scuppered by an incident caused by one of the Scottish championship drivers which caused him to retire from the third race. He had a better day on Sunday taking 7th overall with Simon in 8th. It was Simon's turn to be knocked back on day two when Scottish Championship contender Tony Caig ran into the back of the number 11 KÄRCHER car forcing it off the circuit. Simon recovered but was down the order in 18th place. Sunday's third race saw high drama for Simon as his car's steering shaft failed in the last corner. "Thankfully the car was already pointing at the finish line so just powered out of the corner. The car made it across the line (in fifth place) but as soon as I braked the car speared off into the barrier."

Stephen finished right behind him but he should have been higher up the order but an incident with former World Champion Peter Morton saw his car sustain front end damage.

Despite the drama it was a good weekend points wise with Stephen moving back into fourth place in the table (the 12 car is still leading the team car championship).

"Yes, it was a hard weekend but worth it to be racing in front of Scotland's biggest crowd of the season and also against and beating one of the heroes of British Motorcycle racing, Niall Mackenzie. It was his first time racing Legends and he's just as competitive in cars as he was in bikes. Give him a few meetings and he'd be a very hard man to beat."

The team's next outing is in two week's time at Croft circuit in North Yorkshire.
