Handy Motorsport –
Legends Cars season finale
Next weekend sees the Handy Motorsport
driver Stephen Treherne head to Brands Hatch for the final
round of the championship. Stephen in the Karcher backed #12
car is some 395 points in the lead of the championship but
with 1200 points still up for grabs it is still wide open.
Handy Motorsport picked up the
championship lead with early season pace setter Simon
Belcher in #11 car at round 2 before the mantle was taken up
by Stephen Treherne who has maintained the championship lead
for every round since and into the season finale. The
Karcher backed duo have picked up 15 fastest laps between
them and Stephen has taken 19 race wins this season alone.
With the teams expansion into the Air
Asia Renault Clio Cup, Simon withdrew from the Legends Cars
Championship part way through the season to concentrate on
the huge step up to the Clio Cup while continuing to manage
Stephen’s championship charge.
Stephen will be concentrating on bring
home the championship title but still needs some solid
results at Brands, he has been the championship runner up
for the last two years so second place is not an option.
Handy Motorsport will also be launching
its long awaited 2 seater Legends Cars experience, the car
has been 2 years in the building and is the most advanced
and powerful 2 seater Legends Car in the world. As well as
spectacular high speed laps around the race track it is also
adapted to safely perform doughnuts and burnouts to thrill
the passengers aboard.
As well as the 2 seater Simon Belcher’s 2011
Renault Clio Cup car will be on display and it will be the
last chance to see it before the new 2012 car is launched at
Autosport International in January.

Project
BTCC
It has long been the ambition
of Simon Belcher and Handy Motorsport to move to the
pinnacle of British motorsport and onto the British Touring
Car Championship (BTCC) stage. The cost of the series has
been prohibitive in the past but now with the new generation
touring car rules and the reduced costs of the Renault Clio
Cup introduced in 2011 the series is now a realistic and
commercially viable opportunity for the team to launch –
Project BTCC.

A New Season For
Handy Motorsport
Last years World Finals seem like a long time
ago, there was no time for the team to dwell on
last seasons successes.
They have been extremely busy at their Swindon
workshop, not only have they had to prepare the
cars for the 2012 season, they have also had the
task of kitting out the new Handy Motorsport
race truck.
Simon, Stephen & The Team are looking forward to
seeing fans & friends at the first 2 rounds of
The 2011
UK Legends National Championship at Brands Hatch
on 26th/27th March.

Championship, for our second visit of the
season, having visited for rounds 2 & 3 some 6
months ago. With Stephen arriving at the meeting
just 170 points behind current championship

2010 Legends Cars
Championship - Rounds 6 & 7, Lydden Hill 26th/27th
June 2010
Sunshine and
Legends was the order of the weekend at Lydden
Hill Circuit in Kent for the 6th & 7th
rounds of The 2010 CPC Legends Cars
Championship, The Kärcher Handy Motorsport Team
with drivers Stephen & Simon would be looking to
turn their race pace into points.
This was the first visit of The Legends
Championship to Lydden Hill in 9 years, which
meant that most of the drivers would have little
or no knowledge of the circuit,
whilst only a mile long, Lydden still remains a
very testing circuit, with many undulation
changes.

2010 Legends Cars Championship - Rounds 13 & 14,
Croft 9th & 10th October
2010
It was back to the North
Yorkshire circuit of Croft for the latest rounds
of the 2010 CPC National Legends Cars
Championship.
Both Stephen & Simon were hoping
for a weekend of points, with Stephen hoping to
maintain his position at the top of the
championship.
A dry Saturday morning was the
order of the day. Whilst it was cold it was also
dry, both drivers set about familiarising
themselves with the circuit ready for the
weekends action. Due to the track temperature
being cold it would mean that all the drivers
times would improve through the warm-up, with
fastest laps coming at the end of the session.
Stephen was 2nd fastest and Simon was
5th fastest.

2010 Legends Cars Championship - Round 12,
Donington Park 27th September 2010
A long awaited return to a truly
international class racing circuit, Donington
Park was the venue for Round 12 of the
championship. With Stephen going into this round
leading the championship it could be a tense
affair. The circuit was only reopened 3 weeks
ago following a much publicised closure due to
financial issues. The team would be looking for
some solid points without any damage.
Donington Park is a
circuit that both drivers enjoy, so to get both
cars back out on track was very welcomed. As is
normal in Legends very little can be gleaned
from warm-up, especially when the track
temperature was very cold & it would be
difficult to get a lot of heat into the tyres.
Stephen’s fastest lap during warm-up was
1:24.701 with an average speed of 84.31mph,
Simon’s time was 1:25.240 with an average speed
of 83.58mph.

2010 Legends Cars Championship
Rounds 10 & 11, Pembrey
14th/15th August 2010
Next stop was Pembrey Circuit for
Simon, Stephen & The Kärcher Handy Motorsport
Team for round’s 10 and 11 of The 2010 CPC
Legends Cars Championship.
Pembrey, is almost universally
liked and is a true drivers circuit. The
demanding, tight and twisty 1.45 mile circuit
features 2 hairpin bends, with the heavy braking
areas leading into those hairpins at Hatchets
and Brooklands which make these good places to
see some great overtaking manoeuvres and then
getting the power on as early as possible.
Yet more close and exciting
racing was on the cards for this weekend.

2010 Legends Cars Championship
Rounds 8 & 9, Anglesey
31st July/1st August
2010
Another weekend of action packed
Legends racing was hopefully what lay ahead at
the most beautiful circuit in Britain, the only
circuit that has it’s own beach.
Anglesey circuit or Parc Mon if
you are Welsh is not just a circuit it is 3
circuits, they will be using the Coastal circuit
with it’s famous Corkscrew on Saturday & the
longer International circuit on Sunday.
With Stephen going into the
weekend leading the championship points would be
the name of the game, And for Simon the same
having made up good ground over some of his
rivals in the previous 2 rounds. I must also
mention that it was at this round in last years
championship that Simon had his spectacular
accident when both He & Nick Brace collided.

2010 Legends Cars Championship -
Round 5, Mallory Park 13th June 2010
Mallory Park in Leicestershire affectionately known as “The Friendly Circuit” is the venue for the 5th Round of The 2010 CPC Legends Cars National Championship. Another full grid of 28 cars will line up with not only 5 former Legends champions, but also triple British Rally Champion Mark Higgins. The circuit is a favourite with spectators but not with every driver probably due to Shaw's Hairpin, the tightest corner on any UK tracks. Last year’s round at this circuit was good for the team, let’s hope that good fortune continues today..
